第15期临床研究讲座将于2016年6月20日（周一）下午15:30在中山眼科中心3号楼2楼讲学厅举行。本期讲座将邀请著名临床研究专家，现任ARVO主席Prof Emily Chew和NIH荣休教授陈之昭出席演讲，欢迎参加。

Prof Chew research interest includes phase I/II clinical trials and epidemiologic studies in retinovascular diseases such as age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, ocular diseases of von Hippel-Lindau Disease and others.

She worked extensively in large multi-centered trials headed by the staff of NEI/NIH including the Early Treatment Diabetic Retinopathy Study (ETDRS) and the Age-Related Eye Disease Study (AREDS). She chairs the Actions to Control Cardiovascular Risk in Diabetes (ACCORD) Eye Study, testing the effects of tight control of blood sugar, blood pressure and lipid concentration in the blood on diabetic eye disease. She is also the study chair for the Age-Related Eye Disease Study 2 (AREDS2), a Phase 3 study that is investigating the use of lutein/zeaxanthin (found in leafy greens such as kale) and/or omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids as treatment for age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and cataracts.

Prof Chan has had extensive experience in ophthalmic pathology and clinical ocular immunology. Dr. Chan is a world expert in intraocular lymphoma, immunopathology of uveitis, molecular pathology of age-related macular degeneration (AMD), ocular lymphoma and von Hippel-Lindau disease. Due to her studies she has provided the health field with a deeper understanding of the development of these diseases. In addition to her research, Dr. Chan continues to help patients manage with eye diseases. Currently, she is involved in studies surrounding intraocular lymphoma, uveitis, and the genetics of AMD.
