第15期临床研究系列讲座将于2016年6月20日(周一)下午15:30在中山眼科中心3号楼2楼讲学厅举行。本期讲座将邀请著名临床研究专家,现任ARVO主席Prof Emily Chew和NIH荣休教授陈之昭出席演讲,欢迎参加。◆ The current ARVO president◆ Deputy Director, Division of Epidemiology and Clinical Applications, National Eye Institute◆ Deputy Clinical Director, National Eye Institute◆ Chief of Clinical Trials Branch, National Eye InstituteDr. Chew is the director of the medical retina fellowship program at the NEI.She is working on a large clinical trial called the Actions to Control Cardiovascular Risk in Diabetes (ACCORD), testing the effects of tight control of blood sugar, blood pressure and lipid concentration in the blood on diabetic eye disease.Currently, Dr. Chew is the study chair for the Age-Related Eye Disease Study 2 (AREDS2), a Phase 3 study that is investigating the use of lutein/zeaxanthin (found in leafy greens such as kale) and/or omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids as treatment for age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and cataracts. ◆ Scientist Emerita, National Institutes of Health (2015.06-current)◆ Chief, Section on Immunopathology, Laboratory of Immunology, National Eye Institute (1992-2015)◆ Chief, Histology Core, National Eye Institute (1999-2015)Prof Chan has had extensive experience in ophthalmic pathology and clinical ocular immunology. She is a world expert in intraocular lymphoma, immunopathology of uveitis, molecular pathology of age-related macular degeneration (AMD), ocular lymphoma and von Hippel-Lindau disease. Due to her studies she has provided the health field with a deeper understanding of the development of these diseases. In addition to her research, Dr. Chan continues to help patients manage with eye diseases. Currently, she is involved in studies surrounding intraocular lymphoma, uveitis, and the genetics of AMD.
